Elk Creek Hunt Club

Owen County Quilt Trail

Over 100 quilt squares hanging on barns throughout the county covering 140 miles. Each has a story of why that quilt square was chosen and a history of the farm family. Contact Owen County Extension office for book/guide, it contains a road map. ($25) for book or brochure (no details) is available at Visitors Center.

Ayres Orchard

Ayres Orchard has been in operation for 30 years, producing a wide variety of apples that are available late Spring through Fall. There’s plums & berries too. They make fresh apple cider in Sept, apple butter and berry jams. The orchard is open for tours late June - Oct.

Owen County Courthouse

The Courthouse, built in 1858, is still used to house the County Government. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.  The upstairs courtroom is still used for meeting of Fiscal Court and other civic gatherings.  Confederate Troops occupied the Courthouse during Civil War.  The story goes that the large columns on the porch are filled with barrels of whiskey for strength.
